TIJ cartridge filling machine

We designed the cartridge ink filling machine for the HP45 cartridge type. It fills and seals the cartridges automatically so that no after-treatment like priming is necessary. The filling machine can fill TIJ cartridges in the shape of the HP45 type, whose sealing takes place with a ø4mm stainless steel magnetic ball. The Autofill 3 is available with or without a vacuum chamber. We suggest the version without a vacuum chamber mainly for re-fillers working with water-based ink.

Solvent and water-based inks

The machine is deployable for both solvent and water-based inks.
We use materials for all ink contacting parts that resist solvents like many alcohol variations. We can equip all ink contacting components of the machine on demand for FDA (food-grade) application and issue a certification. The machine’s design enables to simultaneously fill three HP-45 type inkjet cartridges with high precision up to +/- 0.2 ml. The maximal throughput is around 90 cartridges per hour that largely depends on the ink quality

PLC-controlled high vacuum filling

The high vacuum (99.8%) filling technology enables bubble-free filling and ensures that the ink fulfils the entire cartridge tower above the nozzles.
The version equipped with a vacuum chamber enables controlling the pressure difference between cartridges inside and outside. With the help of the vacuum chamber, the maximum force affecting the spring inside the cartridge over the filling process is controllable, which helps protect the bag spring from deformations.

Intelligent software

The communication and operation with the machine take place by a convenient HMI touch screen. The intelligent software of the machine offers many helping and controlling functions that make the operation safe and easy. To these functions belong for example:

  • Automatic self-test routines
  • Recording setups for different ink formulations
  • Diagnostic capability by creating data log files
  • Reminder function for periodical maintenance work
  • Calculation and warning when the ink supply is running low
  • Automatic check for the presence of sealing balls
  • Automatic check whether the operator only empty cartridges inserted
  • And many others

Options

Some cartridge applications or ink formulations require the filling of degassed inks. We offer for the ink degassing three different solutions.
