Sponge cartridges filling machine

We developed the FS18 filling machine for the ink filling of various sponge-type cartridges. It is a universal filling machine with lateral motion reloading technology, enabling the operator to reload new cartridges while executing the running filling cycles. The filling machine uses 18 filling channels, and it is suitable for simultaneously filling six three-color cartridges.

Components of the FS18

The assignment of the individual syringe units to the respective needle set is possible digitally. The assigned ink color of a syringe unit remains the same even when the channel assignment changes. The HMI panel visualizes the chosen adjustment information on the main screen, which helps the operator connect the proper tubes when changing a filling head.
The idle time caused by the reloading of the subsequent empty cartridges is not longer than 1-2 seconds, based on the lateral motion reloading technology. The table of the workstations moves via linear guides on the support plate.

Main features of the sponge cartridges filling machine

• High vacuum (99.8%) filling technology enables a bubble-free filling and the highest quality.
• PLC controlled, the automatic filling process ensures maximum repeatability. The accuracy of the filling amount is within +/-0,2ml.
• The filling machine applies to both OEM and compatible sponge-type cartridges.
• Adjustable ink filling speed, air-intake point, and air-intake speed facilitate the optimal ink extension inside the cartridges.
• The maximum throughput is approximately 360 cartridges per hour, which depends strongly on the ink quality.
• We can also equip the machine so that all ink-forwarding parts receive FDA (food-grade) certification.
• The design is for use with water-based inks.

Machine compatibility

The sponge-type inkjet cartridge filling machine can work with our ink degassing solutions like standalone inline degasser or bulk degasser.
For the cleaning of dirty cartridges or used ones, it is the Spindoctor, an available machine. It is a cleaning machine for sponge-type cartridges.
